Welcome to Pizza Nerd HQ

Pizza Nerd HQ exists for one reason: to help home pizza makers make better pizza.

I didn’t grow up in New York, but my dad did, and pizza was always a big deal in our family. Even growing up in San Diego, Sunday night pizza was something we looked forward to every week. Pizza wasn’t just dinner—it was family time.

As I got older, what started as a love of eating pizza slowly turned into an obsession with making it. I went down the rabbit hole of dough fermentation, flour comparisons, hydration percentages, and pizza ovens. Before long, I found myself experimenting with everything from Caputo and Petra flours to different fermentation schedules and oven setups, always chasing that perfect crust.

Today, my own family has carried on the tradition. Pizza Sundays have become a weekly ritual, and some of my favorite moments are making pizzas with my wife and kids, experimenting with new recipes, and sharing meals around the table.

Pizza Nerd HQ is where I document that journey.

Here you’ll find:

  • Honest pizza oven reviews
  • Dough recipes and techniques
  • Flour comparisons and experiments
  • Troubleshooting guides
  • Pizza recipes and tips
  • Accessories and gear recommendations

Everything on this site is based on real-world experience, countless pizza nights, and the belief that making incredible pizza at home should be approachable, fun, and something worth sharing with the people you love.

Whether you’re making your first dough ball or chasing the perfect leopard-spotted crust, welcome to Pizza Nerd HQ.

Happy pizza making!
